I received some lovely goodies from Canvas Corp and myStamp BOX - I created a countdown chalkboard calendar for the kids! :

Supplies used:  Canvas Corp canvas heart, chalkstock, linen cord, decorative clothespin and mini clothespins; myStamp BOX stamps (Let It Snow, Rustic Outlines, Mini Alpha - Small Box); Tsukineko Staz-On ink; Stampin' Up Craft Ink; Ranger embossing powder; Faber Castell Gelatos (metallic); Craft Smart metallic ink (silver); chalk.

(Sorry for the dark photo - I wanted a photo of it hanging up and there's not much light when I leave for work OR when I get home!  Boooo, winter... :(

I kept it really simple, with minimal embellishments because I'm sure that little hands will be wanting to add the chalk numbers and I didn't want to have to keep repairing it!  Instead I used the stamps as accents!

I misted my canvas heart with water and coloured right onto the canvas with the Gelatos.  I then blended the colours with a paintbrush and let dry.  Using Staz-On, I stamped snowflakes all over and added highlights with silver metallic paint, watered down to a milk-like consistency.

You can't really tell in photos but the Gelatos and the silver paint have a lovely sheen to them!!

Using the watered down silver paint, I also painted the white clothespin to add shimmer to it, and to help it blend in with my project's colour palette.  With the pigment ink, I stamped the title on the chalkstock with stamps and embossed to heat set.  I placed a dab of silver metallic paint full strength on my craft mat and just dragged the edges of the chalkstock through it.

I cut the linen cord to length, knotted the ends and attached it to the canvas using natural mini clothespins that I painted using the Gelatos.

And voila!

Another Layout!

The good news about having lots of DT commitments is that it keeps my mojo flowing!

One of the challenges for the WeScrap Design Team call was to share a never-seen layout.  I had just created my layout for which I shared the sneak peek a few days ago and I think it is one of my favourite layouts, to date.  So could I crank out another one, worthy of the call, in a few days?

Well, I managed to get one done, which is half the battle!  I don't know if it's my favourite, but I LOVE how it turned out - the bright colours and that sweet face make me happy.

Supplies used: Bazzill cardstock; Echo Park Paper Co. patterned paper, stickers; myStamp BOX stamps (Wishing You Sunshine, Seal It!, Colorful Companions); Stamp Craft ink; Stampin' Up glitter (Dazzling Diamonds); American Crafts Thickers; Lily Bee alpha stickers; Martha Stewart Crafts, Fiskars and Marvy Uchida punches; Spellbinders Nestabilities (Standard Circles Large, Classic Scalloped Circles Large); Making Memories rhinestone brad;  Glue Dots; Marvy Uchida marker; ribbon and button from my stash.

I love this photo I had taken of Aili at her granddad's 65th birthday party.  It was so hot that we dragged out the sprinker, stripped her down to her Little Swimmers and tank top and let her go nuts!

My TRICK that I'm going to share with you today is how to use gel medium to transfer an image.  I used the following supplies:  Golden gel medium  Soft Gel (Matte); an image printed on an inkjet printer, trimmed; manila tag (or cardstock) and foam brush.  It's that simple!

First, cover the surface area of your tag with gel medium, using the foam brush.  Make sure to cover a large enough area to fit your image.

Place your image, face down, on the gel medium.  Make sure that it doesn't slide around by holding it in the middle and using your bone folder to smooth out the paper from the center to the outer edge, in a clockwise motion.  (I am using one hand, because I had to take the photo!).  Burnish the back of the image for several minutes.

Slowly, lift one corner of your image.  It should be transferred to your manila tag - if the image is not transferred, continue to burnish the back of the image for a few more minutes.

Remove the paper.  Don't worry if there are some spots that did not transfer - I think it adds to the vintage feel!  

If there is still some of the paper remaining on your transfer, wet the image with a foam brush and water and rub to remove.  Take care not to lift the transfer.

Let dry - or use your heat gun to speed up the process - and voilà!

Sorry the photo is blurry - I didn't realize it until after I completed my project.  Speaking of which, here is my quick tag I created using the transfer:

Supplies used:  DCWV cardstock; Golden gel medium; Tim Holtz Distress Ink; Martha Stewart Crafts border punch; The Twinery twine; kraft twine from my stash.  Printed images were left over from a Donna Downey class.

And here is what I did with my MYSTERY BOX…

Supplies:  Kraft box; myStamp BOX stamps (Repeat After Me, Seal It); Tsukineko and ColorBox inks, Ranger embossing powder; Glue Dots; miscellaneous handmade paper, button, felt, denim, embroidery floss, twill ribbon, jute and twine from my stash.

I began by stamping around the bottom edge of the box with the zipper stamp from the Repeat After Me stamp set.  Then, using the Seal It stamp set, I stamped circles along all four sides, replacing one of the solid circles with the "You're a Star!" stamp.

Of course, since I was stamping on the box when it was opened flat, I goofed and stamped along the upper edge of the box by mistake!  So I covered it in twill ribbon that matched.  You can see it peeking out from under the ribbon here:

Just keepin' it real, people.  I kinda LIKE making mistakes because it really forces me to think outside the box (no pun intended) and be more creative.

Yeah, that's my reason and I'm sticking to it!

Anyhow... back to the box!  Using felt and denim, I fashioned some big flowers and leaves (using a tutorial by Cheri of I am Momma - Hear Me Roar) and hot glued them to the top of the box.  I covered some Super Stock from Canadian Scrapbooker with denim and cut out a tag and little pocket shape.  I frayed the edges by sanding it lightly with my sanding block, and added stitching detail to the pocket with embroidery floss.

Using the handmade paper, I stamped the sentiment and cut it out.  With dimensional adhesive, I attached it to the tag, with a button for good measure!  I wrapped the box with a long length of both twine and jute and attached the tag, after punching a hole through the denim and Super Stock with my Crop-o-dile.

And here’s my Fall Inspired project that I’d like to share with you….

Supplies:  Kraft cardstock (unknown), 3 Bugs in a Rug patterned paper, Marvy Uchida punches, Maya Road trinket pin, downloadable floral tag by Scrap in Style TV, ribbon, hemp.

These were so easy to create!  I was inspired by Pink Petticoat's version here - I made mine a little bigger, using a 5"x7" piece of cardstock.  Just decorate with some patterned paper and ribbon, and attach a tag printed on matching cardstock and you're done!  You could even use these as party favours or placemats, adding the person's name to the tag!
