And here's my layout, based on the sketch:
Supplies used: Bazzill cardstock; KaiserCraft patterned paper, die cuts, rub-ons and stickers; EK Success and Marvy Uchida punches; Just Cre8 and Stampin' Up! stamps, Ranger Distress ink; watercolour paint.
I've had this photo of Connor in a frame forever (he was about 8 months old in this photo) and wanted to add it to his album. I love his ruby red lips and big brown eyes - such a heartbreaker!
The journaling was handwritten on strips of kraft cardstock, then inked to make them pop off the same coloured background. I originally was going to stitch through the top of the strips, but found the yellow rub-ons mimics zigzag stitching so I added that, along with bullet points to each line.
This layout was created at Holly's place and I borrrowed her Morning Post stamps for the title - and fell in love! They are the perfect size and produce such crisp images, despite the fine writing. To add some texture to the background, I used brown watercolour paint and lightly flicked it off my paintbrush:
To me, creating a scrapbook page is a little bit like decorating a room - it always needs a touch of black to "ground" it, whether it's simply journaling in a black pen, or adding small bits of black rub-ons like I've done here:
{RAK ALERT!}
If you play along with the sketch this month, upload your layout in the gallery into the October Sketch section here, and then link up below using Linky Tools (email me at sue{AT}canadianscrapbooker{DOT}ca if you have trouble). Not only do you have a chance to be published in an upcoming issue*, but at the end of the month, I will randomly draw a winner from the comments here of those who participated for a copy of the Fall 2012 issue!
* For a chance to be published, your layout must be uploaded in the Sketchy gallery for October, and must contain at least one Canadian manufacturer, which must be listed in the description of your upload.
Congratulations to my September winner, Cathy Caines! Cathy, please email me your mailing address and I will send out your magazine!
Cheers,
P/S: Don't forget about the other challenges on my blog for a chance to win (deadlines in brackets):

What a great layout Sue! I love your use of the 'heart rhythms' border and your title. So meaning of course, she's a cutie and those round corners are perfect.
