or I should say, Flying BY!!
This week, that is. Seems like I just got back from Kitchener and a fun artsy weekend and another weekend is almost upon us!
As mentioned before, our classes with Donna were so worth every penny! We learned so many different techniques and received lots of goodies. And not only that, but with it came a new-found freedom to just let go and PLAY!
At one point, during the Inspiration Journal class, she had each of us stand up and go and sit at someone else's spot and create a page using their stuff! That was a turning point for me, because it was almost like I wasn't working in my book anymore - I lost the fear of "doing something wrong" and just went for it. The seat I chose didn't have nearly the amount of stuff that I had brought so I'm wondering if the unlimited choices perhaps hinder our creativity, rather than inspire it?
We all managed to corrale Donna into a group photo prior to everyone's departure:
L. to R.: Holly, me, Donna, Lee and Lori
I'm off to take Aili to swimming lessons and then am going to help a friend with her daughter's wedding invitations tonight.
Watch for an announcement on my blog tomorrow though... :)

T minus 2 and counting...

Look out, Donna - here we come!!
On Saturday, Holly, Lee, Lori and I will be in Kitchener to take an afternoon class with the crazy talented Donna Downey. Holly and I are actually heading out in the morning for the Life's Artistry class as well.
Karen Ellis, another outrageously talented lady and owner of the Art Studio House in Kitchener is hosting the event. Donna will be teaching an evening class on Friday (Lee is attending that class, as well), three classes on Saturday and a full day class on Sunday. I really wanted to take that one as well, but decided that these two classes are the best value for my dollar right now.
By the end of Saturday afternoon, I should have an eight page 8x10 mixed media scrapbook, an inspiration journal (similar to the one Donna uses for her Inspiration Wednesday videos) and a whole lotta mojo!
That's the hope, anyways!
After class, Lori, Holly and I will be kidnapping Lee (bah - party schmarty!) and taking her to dinner with us for some good food and even better beverages! And hopefully between the four of us and our cameras, we will remember to take a group photo!
I'll be sure to share photos taken during our class, and of the finished (or nearly finished!) projects!

So excited!!
Do you have plans on March 26th?
I do!!
Holly and I have once again teamed up to attend more classes with the fabulous Donna Downey!! My lovely friend, Karen Ellis, media artiste extraordinaire and owner of The Art House Studio, is hosting Donna and her wonderful workshops for 3 days at the Holiday Inn that weekend.
We'll be taking the Life's Artistry workshop on Saturday morning.

We'll be taking the Life's Artistry workshop on Saturday morning.

As per the course description, we will "learn techniques and tips for creating an eight page 8 x 10 mixed media scrapbook. The book is comprised of multi-surface and textured pages... The use of color, fabrics, papers, moments captured and artistic style art journaling make it unique and truly individualized to each student."
In the afternoon, we'll be (hopefully) joined by our friend, Lee Currie, for this exciting workshop, Inspiration Journal:

Again, per the Donna's course description, this workshop is "a hands on exploration of your inner artist as we work together, creating your visual legacy. The inspiration journal has become the hallmark of my creative play and growth as an artist. This workshop promises to challenge you to look at yourself as a creative soul and will encourage artistic growth with each page you complete... Techniques include: painted backgrounds, "drippage", use of different mediums, image transfer, building in layers, dimensional effects, and journaling techniques."
Be still my inky, painted heart.
Is anyone else planning to attend? For more info on the classes, you can visit The Art Studio House's blog HERE.

iTeam Challenge - WeScrap
It's my turn to post the iTeam challenge over at WeScrap!
In sorting through my supplies, I came across A LOT of product that I found myself repeating, "OMGosh, I forgot about that!" and "Hey, I didn't know I had that!?!" :s
So when it came time to prepare a challenge, I decided to take it old school and follow at least part of the old wedding adage, "Something Old, Something New..."
Supplies: Canvas Concepts 4" canvas, The Stamp Barn stamp, General and Derwent watercolour pencils, DecoArt paint, Ranger Stickles and Liquid Pearls, Doodlebug Designs alphabet stickers, ribbon (unknown).
Using some of the painting techniques that I learned in the Donna Downey class that I took, with my friend Holly, I painted the backgound pink (of course) with touches of white, and added a white cloud, using my watercolour pencils to add shading.
I stamped the unicorn onto Canadian Scrapbooker SuperStock, using The Stamp Barn's Enchanted Hollow stamp. Using my watercolours, I added shading and colour and then highlighted the mane and tail with Stickles. I used Liquid Pearls in Pewter to colour the unicorn horn, and once it was nearly dry, I used the tip of my scissor to score the lines.
I think that I may go back and stamp another image and add some dimension by adding another layer of the mane, tail and horn - if I can pry it away from her! :)
Thanks for looking!
