Sketchy Challenge | March 2014

I have just posted the March 2014 sketch for the Canadian Scrapbooker Sketchy Challenge:

This month, I rotated my sketch 180 degrees, to better suit my photo (quick design tip - for a more pleasing effect, your photo subject should (almost) always be facing inwards on your page…)

Here's my layout:

Supplies used:  Bazzill cardstock; Recollections patterned paper, EK Success (notebook border) and Marvy Uchida (heart) punches; Maya Road bird (sheer); Jillibean Soup corrugated bird (traced onto cardstock); Heidi Swapp heart; Pebbles pearl candy dots; KaiserCraft pearls; Jenni Bowlin ticket; Ranger Industries Distress ink; unknown heart clip; miscellaneous buttons from my stash.

A favourite photo of mine, I snapped this pic of Connor while in Niagara Falls with the Lepages in 2011.  I love the twinkle in his eye… Handsome li'l devil, isn't he??

True to my style, I used a single photo and added several clusters of … stuff, for lack of a better word!  (I guess I could have said "embellishments"…)

Anyhow, I used a mix of old and new stuff from my stash here - I'm trying to use more of my stuff so I'm loading up my pages - no more hoarding!!

Also, typical of my style, I used a random photo and added heartfelt journaling, evoking memories of my FEELINGS, rather than an event.  I seem to do that, a lot.  I can't remember the last birthday party layout I completed!

Journaling reads:  Connor, I see you grow, both literally and figuratively, every day.  You have become such a fine, upstanding young man.  You make me so proud with your kind heart and funny sense of humour.  I love how you've grown more comfortable in your own skin, even with the shaky start you had in school.  You are the perfect combination of mischievousness, charm, humour and kindness!  I love you so much, and … you hold my heart.

Hopefully you find some time this month to play along!  Please head over to the Sketchy gallery and get inspired to create your own layout!  You can use the sketch as is or as a springboard for your project - the choice is yours!

{RAK ALERT!}
If you play along with the sketch this month, upload your layout in the gallery into the March 2014 Sketch section HERE, and then using the linky tool below, add a link to that layout, by 11:59 pm on March 31, 2014. On or around April 1st, 2014, I will randomly draw a winner from the comments here of those who participated, for a prize!

Stay tuned - I will be announcing our February 2014 Sketchy winner in a day or so... :)

**PLEASE NOTE:  In order to qualify for a chance to be published in an upcoming issue, your layout must be posted in the online gallery by March 31st, 2014.  To qualify to win MY prize, you must add a link to your layout BELOW by March 31st, 2014, using the InLinkz tool below.

Cheers,
