Touchdown!

A tornado touched down in my hometown a few weeks ago when I was in Toronto.  My family there is all okay, thankfully.  However, the tornado blew right through the area on the lakeside where my dad lives.  His home, itself, is relatively undamaged, aside from a few missing shingles.

Here are some of the photos that my brother-in-law, Gino, took when he went by to check on my dad, the morning after:

Here's my dad's place - you can see the large tree in front.
Here's a closer view - you can see it's been ripped right out of the ground.
One of my favourite homes on this street sustained quite a bit of damage to their beautiful yard, but luckily, I don't think their home was damaged - I just LOVE this house!  Unfortunately, you can't see much of the house...

Miraculously, there were no fatalities!  You can view more photos here.

  2. So glad everything and everyone is okay (a couple of shingles and trees excluded :) ). I understand the anxiety of it all. I was homeless for over a year and went to many funerals after the Barrie tornado 25 years ago. Its a hard go and scary what wind can do. *hugs for everyones safety*
