It was so hard last week, listening to our readers talk excitedly about our Fall issue of Canadian Scrapbooker, while I was impatiently waiting for my copy!
Sure, you may think that this should not be as exciting for me, since it's been five years that I've been writing for the magazine, but in actuality, each time I see my name in print, I feel a thrill! It amazes me and I thank my lucky stars every day that I'm blessed to be doing something that I love to do, with amazing editors and a talented team who astound me each issue.
This issue is especially dear to me, for several reasons:
- I wrote a feature article, For the Love of Pink, on a topic that has touched me deeply, after my sister, Liz, and my dear friend, Amanda, were both diagnosed with breast cancer within a month of each other, late last year.
- One of my sister's layouts about her journey with breast cancer was published in this issue - her first publication! Way to go, Liz!
- As mentioned before, this issue is the first issue that my name has been featured on the front cover!
Here's my layout:
Supplies: Crate Paper patterned paper; KI die cut paper; Bazzill Basics cardstock; Skribblz Art vinyl designs (dandelions); Basic Grey letter stickers; Crate Paper diet cuts; Jenni Bowlin mini bingo card; Prima bling flourishes and wing; McGill tab punch; felt butterfly, ribbon, feathers (unknown)
Thanks for looking - I have an extra copy of the Fall 2010 issue that I'd love to share with someone. Just leave me a comment with your favourite... hmmm. let's see... your favourite scrapbooking snack! I'll randomly choose a winner on September 10th!
Your article was fabulous and the layouts were amazing tributes to the lives of wonderful amazing women fighting with strength and dignity!!! Thanks for the inspiration!!

I already get the magazine and was happy to see your name. I haven't read the article yet..anything with breast cancer I find difficult to deal with..my mom died Sept 25/09 from it..we didn't know she had cancer and it had spread to her liver.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on having your NAME on the cover.
Your layout out is beautiful Sue and all those Pink layouts are amazing just as the women that are fighting through breast cancer. Congrats on getting your name on the cover.

ReplyDeleteYour article was wonderful and everyone's layouts were amazing! I especially enjoyed the layouts published about courage as I just lost my mom in June to ovarian cancer. This issue is especially dear to me as well as I had two of my own layouts published in it for the first time as well :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite scrap snack... a bowl of m'ms. half dark chocolate and half peanut butter. I'm excited to find some pretzle ones and add those as well.
ReplyDeleteSide note, you CAN fit the cropper hoppers in the expedite. I can send pics and instructions if you want them.
