Baaa-aaaad Blogger!

That's me! I can't believe it's been almost two months since I've updated!!

Aside from the demands on my time, I think that part of the problem is that I think that each post should be accompanied by a photo! Melanie, one of my Cre8ive Crew at Just Cre8, has issued a challenge to take a photo a day and post it on your blog. I would love to document more of our day-to-day life and really - how hard is it to snap one photo? It's in finding time to actually log into the Blogger and get them up that would be the challenge! But I think I may take it on... because we all know how much free time I have on my hands!! LOL!

Actually, I may NOT be able to participate... I think my Nikon D70 is dying a slow death! :( I'm not finding the images as sharp as before, and some are often grainy and pixelated, despite using a lower ISO. I called Turek Camera to ask about servicing the camera. I was dismayed to find out that they are going out of business! It's sad that many of the local mom-and-pop camera stores are being displaced by the Best Buys and Henrys stores that are cropping up. Gone are the days of one-on-one customer service and genuine love of the profession/hobby of photography {sigh}.

At any rate, the sales associate first suggested that I download a new firmware update and see if that helped. Then he tried to sell me a D80, since they were going out of business!! ~roll eyes~

I then called Henrys. He indicated that it sounded like there was something wrong with the sensor and that I should send it in to Nikon for an overhaul. When asked how long it could be, he said anywhere from 5 to 8 weeks!!! I can't go that long without my camera!! He also said that depending on what it is, I was looking at anywhere from $100-200 for just a cleaning of the sensors up to $1000, if the entire sensor imaging system had to be replaced!! Yikes! Looks like we'll be needing a new camera!

On the home front, things are chugging along full speed! We all just got over a nasty bout of colds that ripped through our family. Aili, as always was hit hard, but it hit Connor pretty hard as well. We had to put him back on his inhalers for a few days to clear his lungs. Even Gary and I got it, although I'm happy to say that it didn't lay me up at all! My immune system must be bouncing back!

Connor still have hockey 2-3 times a week. This photo was taken Christmas Eve, during our annual Christmas Eve family hockey game. We're nearing the end of the season and playoffs are at the end of the month. Although he plays defence, he fancies himself a goalie and spends alot of time, flopping around on the floor at home as his baby sister takes penalty shots on him - she's quite good, actually! As the weather warms, they have traded the sticks and puck (or hackey sac, when indoors!) for a soccor ball! Both kids will play soccor this year. Connor's looking forward to his third season and Aili's excited about starting this year!

As for ballet... well, let's just say it lasted for one glorious week. It's a long story and I will share when I upload some photos of her in her ballet outfit, but suffice it to say that I am quite disappointed! :( But she has become quite headstrong and determined as she progresses through the pre-school years and it's not worth the battle... or the 30 minute drive into the community centre, only to find out that she refuses to go in...

Her hair is starting to thicken and grow, although it is still just a slight fringe around the hairline! She loves to dress up in her princess dresses and shoes (thanks to Aunt Liz for that trunkful of goodies!) and all things pretty and frilly, but HATES to have anything in her hair. Well, for longer than 10 minutes, anyways...Here, she is complaining that I take too many pictures of her... :D
Anyhow, I've got a million things on my To Do list! I know that there's more to update, but I will try to do so more often!!
Thanks for reading!

  1. Can't wait to see what kind of camera you get....hey.....I have an idea! Why don't you buy a Canon (I hear they're good) and then, since you won't be able to use your Nikon lenses...I can take them off your hands.....LOL ;)
